2012 Summer Olympics XXX Tickets

Site: London, United Kingdom
Dates: July 27, 2012 – August 12, 2012

London has been chosen as the location for the 2012 Summer Games. Most events will take place in Stratford, Newham. Three previous bids were declined (one in Birmingham, two in Manchester), but the city beat out Paris on its fourth and final ballot and will become the first city to host the Games three times. The dates for the events to be held are from July 27, 2012 to August 12, 2012. Tickets will be hard to come by for this event if you do not try to get them soon.

Most of the venues have been divided into three zones: the Olympic Zone, the River Zone, and the Central Zone. In addition, there are some venues located outside the boundaries of Greater London. It is also expected that the Old Trafford and Villa Park football stadiums will be utilized. In preparation for the event, improvements, upgrades, and additions to both the London Underground and Docklands Light Rail are planned as well as possible implementation of Crossrail, though it is uncertain whether the latter will be completed before the Games.

There is to be a total of 9.6 million tickets available for sale – 8 million for the Olympics and 1.6 million for the Paralympics. It is projected that 75% of all tickets will cost less than £50 including free travel on London Transport. Between ticket revenues and other funding, it is believed that London will profit by over $100,000,000 from the Games. Of course, this is contingent upon completion of all proposed construction in preparation for the games as well as additional transportation and hotel accommodations that will be needed as well.

London 2012 will be broadcast by a number of regional broadcasters. Although it has been reduced dramatically since 1980, the United States television rights that are currently owned by NBC still comprise over half of the rights revenue of the IOC. Current confirmations include the following broadcasters: BBC will air the games on BBC One as well as on radio and BBCi; NBC Universal with NBC and all cable properties in the United States; European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for Europe; Various outlets in Canada including CTV, TQS, TSN, RDS, Rogers Sportsnet, OMNI Television, OLN Canada, and many more; Australian broadcasting is unknown at the present, but it is expected to be covered by Channel 7 the same as the previous two Games.
